Paesano Restaurant Review

Last week I was invited to dine at Paesano restaurant located in Knox Ozone.  Paesano is an Italian restaurant based on traditional Italian cuisine using recipes passed down from Nonna through generations.
Dan wasn't able to make it so I took his mum instead.  We were greeted on arrival and shown to our table.  After we were seated the manager came over to take our drink order.  After discussing what wines we preferred he suggested we try the Durvillea Sauvignon Blanc.  This wine was fresh and fruity.  It had a subtle hint of sweetness with a clean finish and went perfectly with our entree of Rockmelon Prosciutto.  This entree was a pretty dish with pops of colour and did not disappoint on flavour.  The crispness of the bread with the fresh melon paired perfectly with the creamy goats cheese and prosciutto.  I would highly recommend this starter.

Being an Italian restaurant I was keen to try a pizza or pasta.  We opted for one of each.  The Pear and Pancetta pizza was my pick and was delicious.  The pizza had a perfect combination of parmesan, mozzarella and gorgonzola on a nice crisp base.  The fresh pear complimented the richness of the cheese and the saltiness of the pancetta.

After seeing the chef making fresh gnocchi in the restaurant, Dan's mum decided to order the Gnocchi Chicken Inverno.  The only way to describe this was fresh, soft and delicious.  The sauce wasn't too heavy like some cream based sauces can be which was a big thumbs up.  The combination of chicken, avocado and basil pesto was a winner.

Of course we'd already picked out dessert so we asked to take some of our main meal home which the staff were happy to organise.  The portions were very generous and quite filling.  For dessert Dan's mum tried their famous tiramisu which is one of Nonna's recipes, from the Abruzzo region, passed down over a hundred years.  It looked so good, I had to try it!  It had bursts of coffee without being too soggy.  I must admit I haven't tried many tiramisu's but this was very enjoyable.

And this was what I ordered...

Nutella is always good.

Overall it was a lovely dining experience.  The ambience was inviting.  The staff had a great knowledge of the menu and were able to answer questions about the dishes as well as offering recommendations.  There were no long waits between courses and the service was friendly.  The food tasty and full of flavour.

I was invited as a guest to Paesano's.  All opinions in this review are my own.
