How does Friday night margaritas and a tequila tasting sound?

Well that’s exactly what happened last Friday night when I headed out for a bloggers dinner organised by Bloggers United. Au.  The dinner was at Radio Mexico in St Kilda, and was part of Dine with Heart month, a fundraising effort by Sacred Heart Mission.

Welcome cocktail: Chili Popcorn Margarita

Not knowing anyone at the table we all started asking questions and working out who was who in the social world.  It was great putting names to faces and getting to know one another a little better whilst sipping Radio Mexico’s new Popcorn Chili Margarita.  Whilst the first course was placed on the table, we heard a bit more about the Sacred Heart Mission and how they help the homeless by providing meals and conversation.  Their big fundraiser, Dine with Heart, happens in May with over 60 restaurants, cafes and
bars around St Kilda and Melbourne’s CBD doing their bit to help.  Whether it’s an organised event like this dinner, a special dish added
to the menu for the month or just encouraging diners to add a little
extra onto their bill it all helps raise awareness and funds to continue
the Mission’s meals program.   Knowing that $4 will buy someone a healthy meal it really isn’t that hard to get involved.

Chilaquiles and homemade salsas

There was some more eating and drinking and then we moved onto the TEQUILLA.  I have to admit this was my first time having straight tequilla and I wasn’t really a fan.  It was however quite interesting hearing Jason from Tromba talk about the process involved in making the tequila and comparing it to wines.  It should be sipped like wine and not shot, who knew.
